John Janzen Nature Centre

I took the kids to John Janzen Nature Centre this morning so Jason could get some sleep after clearing snow all night. We spent almost 3 hours there - I don't know who was more tired - the kids or me!! I brought along a lunch so we could stay there as long as possible. Because we went as soon as it opened, it wasn't very busy either :)

This part of the nature centre is designed to look like various natural wildlife habitats - trees, caves, beehive, beaver dam, giant mushroom, nests, etc. Owen is getting big enough now to be able to get around on his own and really enjoy it. He loved the slide and trying to escape from me every chance he got. Sabrina loved playing in the giant bee hive, and making new friends with some of the other kids playing there.

Owen sliding down the slide by himself - when he goes on his own, he turns around and attempts to get on the slide backwards, just like he does when climbing down stairs. Then he can't get himself turned around properly and usually ends up sliding down backwards.

Sabrina at the top of the rock stairs leading to the slide. Underneath the slide is a tunnel leading to the caves. At the top of the picture is the giant mushroom that the kids can play in.

Owen walking in front of the giant beehive. He hasn't mastered this one yet because he can't pull himself up onto all the different levels. I suspect it won't take him long though.
